What’s New with the Utilization Management Knowledgebase (UMK)
The Utilization Management Knowledgebase (UMK) now includes excerpts from each quarterly issue of APG Insights newsletter.
The latest updates from APG Insights include detailed information regarding two important topics: opiate use, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
Consistent with the ongoing ACOEM Practice Guidelines structure, the updates incorporate practical and useful information, including indications for use, duration of treatment, objective measures for evaluating effectiveness, and indications for discontinuation.
The included information will help clinicians and care management personnel to more clearly appreciate evidence-based indications for use of these interventions to facilitate timely and efficient functional recovery. For opiates, recognition of appropriate duration of dosing and medication management in both the acute and subacute/chronic settings can help to limit prolonged drug use. For cognitive behavioral therapy, appreciate how this intervention can enhance the effectiveness of physical treatments to enhance the recovery process.
