The Washington Employment Security Department (ESD) made available its Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML) poster and employer notice to employees.

By January 1, 2020, employers with employees working in Washington must post the mandatory PFML poster in a conspicuous place in their Washington worksites. Employers also must provide the notice to employees who may be eligible for PFML the later of:

  • Five business days after an employee’s seventh consecutive day of absence due to family or medical leave, or
  • Five business days after an employer becomes aware that the employee’s absence is due to family or medical leave.
