The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development issued an updated Family Leave Insurance poster to reflect recent amendments made to the state’s leave laws. As described in our blog post on the New Jersey amendments, significant changes were implemented, including but not limited to:
- Expansion of the definition of covered family members for which family leave may be taken, adding siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, parents-in-law, foster children, foster parents, children born using a surrogate, and anyone else related by blood or who is the “equivalent” of family (effective immediately), and
- Doubling of paid family leave entitlement from six to twelve weeks (or 56 days of intermittent leave) in a 12-month period (effective July 1, 2020).
The new workplace poster adds these recent changes and provides information on how eligible employees may apply for paid family leave benefits under the NJ law. Covered employers should display the new poster in a conspicuous location in their worksites.
